Steven Walker

Owner/Lead Instructor

To most in the Manitoba paddling community, Steven is still 14 years old. Steven spent his teenage years kayaking with anyone who was willing to drive him to the river.  During the summer, he would explore whitewater throughout the province and then spend the winter analyzing whitewater videos of the pros in preparation for spring!

Now 21, Steven is at the cutting edge of the whitewater kayaking scene here in Manitoba. He has traveled across Canada and internationally to improve his skills in order to progress the sport in his home province. Steven spends more time on the water than anyone and knows the whitewater rivers in this province like the back of his hand.

If there is one thing Steven likes more than paddling challenging whitewater in remote locations, it’s introducing people to the sport that has brought him so much joy over the years.  Steven is a certified whitewater kayak instructor (Canoe Kayak Canada, River Kayaking Instructor 2 / Leader 2 Certified; Paddle Canada, River Kayaking Instructor Level 2 Certified) and has training in Wilderness First Aid and Swift Water Rescue. His passion for all things whitewater is contagious; he is excited to teach you everything you want to know, from the basics to aerial freestyle maneuvers. You’re in good hands with Steven on the water.

Mick Lautt

Instructor Trainer

Mick started paddling long before most of us were even born - back when the kayaks were long and the photos were black and white.

All jokes aside, when Mick is not hustling in the boardroom or throwing backflips on the trampoline with his two boys (Dad of the year), he can paddle harder than any of us young guns.

Mick brings over 2 decades of national and international paddling and instructing experience to our team and is the senior Instructor Trainer here in Manitoba. As a long time pioneer for the sport provincially, he is a prominent figure in the community for good reason. His passion for teaching, respect for the river and refined paddling technique are evident when instructing. Mick is well equipped to teach students of all levels. Whether you want to learn the basics or learn to be the next Paddle Canada Instructor, consider yourself lucky to have Mick as your instructor.

Colin Gisiger

Notorious for many things, Colin is the subject of many campfire stories. With his adventurous spirit and willingness to safely push his limits, he has experienced more excitement in his 4 years of paddling than most do in their entire paddling career.

Colin is on track to becoming the next big thing in paddling here on the prairies. His laid-back attitude but quiet determination to push himself has proven to be his secret to success. In recent years Colin has started crushing some of the hardest whitewater here in Manitoba.

Colin is not yet a certified Paddle Canada Instructor, but you may find him tagging along on one of your courses, learning the ropes of teaching and helping with logistics on and off the water.
